Who We Are

The independent practioners of Southside Counseling Associates have unique backgrounds and many different experiences and roads behind them. They share, however, a singular belief in every person's right to find a way to not only get by, but thrive in life. Whether working individually or together, they use their diverse experiences to help clients find their voice and determine their own path.

Linda Childers, LCSW

Linda Childers is an individual therapist who pairs her dynamic energy with a gift of relating to clients to help them find their way.  She pairs a strong intuitive sense with unconditional positive regard to help clients feel comfortable and at ease to explore life choices and enact positive change.  Her strengths include helping clients uncover faulty thought patterns and discover new ways of thinking and being in the world. 

 

Linda has experience providing creative, collaborative and practical counseling with many different types of clients including adolescents, young adults, and mature adults.  She works well with many types of struggles including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, self-discovery concerns, and more.

Liz Owens, LCSW

 

Liz has been a therapist for the past four years and has a lot of experience with adolescents and families.  She has a comforting and encouraging style of counseling, and incorporates her Christian faith into her practice.  Her goal is to have you leave a session feeling inspired and encouraged to achieve your goals and to feel confident in who you are.

Karen Kennedy, LCSW, State Registered Mediator

After twenty-five years consulting with Fortune 500 clients, Karen realized that what she valued most about her life would lead her to a new field of study and an entirely different life.

Karen enjoys working with couples and individuals. She engenders trust through a spirit of partnership and compassionate honesty. Meshing her years of business experience with her social work training and newfound passion, Karen encourages a balance of reflective thought and purposeful action.

Dana Lasek, PhD, HSPP
Dr. Lasek is a caring, compassionate therapist with over 17 years of clinical experience. She has provided individual and group therapy and consultation within the public and private sectors. Dr. Lasek specializes in the areas of infertility; adoption; grief and loss; depression; and medical issues.
Dr. Lasek enjoys the challenge of helping her clients improve their lives through a collaborative, results oriented approach to personal therapy.

 Angi Johnson, LCSW

Angi has 10 years of experience working with a variety of populations including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has a warm, comforting, and supportive approach and has an excellent ability to engage and meet clients where they are with the goal of guiding them to where they want to be. Angi enjoys working with all populations, and works well with anxiety, relationship, and parenting issues. She is also a Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician, a certification she has held and maintained since 2006. Angi's passion is helping individuals realize their strengths and utilize them to attain personal goals and optimize potential. 

George Vesper Jr., LMHC, LAC, NCC

George, a graduate from Indiana University, has been a therapist for many years. His warm, accepting, creative, insightful and recovery focused therapy style encourages developing self-acceptance, the confidence for positive change and what's preventing that from happening. With a holistic perspective, he feels comfortable incorporating spirituality in treatment upon request with a primary Christian perspective, but will work with all beliefs. Areas of expertise are Depression, Anxiety, Addictions, Trauma, Spirituality, Bereavement, Childhood abuse, Men's and Relationship Issues, and more.
